Paradip Port celebrated Port Day – 2012 on Nov. 28 on the auspicious day of Kartik Purnima.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, attending the celebration as the Chief Guest, unfurled the Paradip Port Flag at West Basin. He performed the traditional Kalasa Puja and handed over the sacred kalasa to the Sadhavas dressed in traditional attire. Then he gave a warm send off to the Sadhavas who set sail on board a traditionally decorated boat.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. S. S. Mishra, Chairman of Paradip Port Trust, expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister and other guests for taking part in the celebration. He assured that the port will strive to work round-the-clock to bring further development of the State.
Mr. Mishra also informed the gathering that the port had been carrying out its part of corporate social responsibility in the past. But in the days ahead, the thrust of the corporate social responsibility will be on the betterment of people living in and around the port township. He further expressed his gratitude for getting all the support extended by various departments and agencies of the State Government.
Recalling the vision of the legendary statesman of Odisha late Biju Patnaik to create a port in Odisha, the Chief Minister stated that his dream has been translated into a reality in the form of Paradip Port. And today is the occasion to remember that the port is contributing to the economic growth of the State and has become a premier port in the country due to the strong determination and will power of the Odias. The Chief Guest also announced that the State Government will provide all support for the growth of Paradip Port.
Jagatsinghpur Collector Satya Kumar Mallick, MLA Bishnu Charan Das, MP Bibhu Prasad Tarai and Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Damodar Rout also spoke. Mr. S. A. C. Bose, Deputy Chairman of Paradip Port, proposed a vote of thanks.
