On September 14, in the evening, New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) conducted on board the LPG Ship M.V. “Maharshi Devatreya” a combined security mock drill. In accordance with the NMPT disaster management plan, the entire disaster management division including NMPT’s CISF, port fire service, pollution control team and all the port crafts joined the exercise. The exercise also included fire tenders from district fire service, MCF, KIOCL, HPCL with Panambur police. In a review meeting after the drill held in the board room of NMPT, Dr.P.Tamilvanan, Chairman, thanked all concerned for their timely response and suggested that such drills must be held at regular intervals. Under the direction of PFSO of NMPT, Captain Pradeep Mohanty conducted the drill according to ISPS code. Mock drills are administrative tools of great importance that keeps the personnel familiarized with the challenges of the disaster so that they can face them at the shortest notice.
