New Container Weighing System by Strainstall

An UK based company, Strainstall , as their website informs, “ are experts in all areas of load measurement, strain and stress determination”. Anticipating a direction from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) that is likely to introduce mandatory weighing of containers, Strainstall have introduced a new container weighing system with manifold advantages. Apart from being designed for a low impact installation, the system makes it possible for the operators to watch the loading live by means of an in-cab display. The system provides various integration options such as modification of spreader twist locks and replacing the load bearing pins in the existing spreader head block assembly by load measuring pins. The system, by establishing the exact weight of containers, helps the shipping companies to avoid revenue loss and accidents due to overloaded containers. Scott Cruttenden, Business Development Manager—Industrial Sector said: “This new system means port operators can significantly improve both safety and productivity by allowing crane operators to know exactly what weight they are lifting, enabling vessels to be correctly loaded and by ensuring all containers are charged according to actual weight”. The new system appears to be a good business innovation. Without innovations, a business cannot command distinction and remain there, too.
