At the All-India Maritime And Logistics Awards 2012, APM Terminals, Mumbai was unanimously selected and declared as the Container Terminal Operator of the Year. More than 150 companies in about 40 categories had contested for the prestigious award. An eminent jury, after closely examining the huge number of nominations, chose APM Terminals to be worthy of the annual award. The parameters considered for the selection are, according to an official release, operational performance, customer satisfaction, IT efficiency, effective safety measures, hi-tech facilities, year-on-year growth and certifications received. Such an achievement is possible only when there is continuous and conscientious co-ordination and co-operation in the members of the organization. Mr. Rajiv Krishnan, the Chief Executive Officer, expressed profuse thankfulness to all concerned for making this award possible and sought continued support in future also to Gateway Terminals India (GTI). Some of the achievements can be recalled here and they are, first and foremost, more than 500 safe days (concern for human lives), an honor from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust for its distinguished performance in 2011-12 of 1.9 million Twenty Foot Equivalent Unit (commercial efficiency), its environmental consciousness, and reducing its carbon footprint (corporate social responsibility). Awards ought to inspire healthy competition in the industry which, ultimately, ends in national prosperity and social welfare.
