A written reply in the Rajya Sabha by the Minister of State of Commerce and Industry Mr.Jyotiraditya Scindia referred to the ambitious plans of the Government ; they are the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor( DMIC) project , National Investment and Manufacturing Zones (NIMZ) and setting up a Technology Acquisition and Development Fund. Under DMIC, the government has a plan of starting eight investment regions and has already given in-principle permission for one NMIZ at Nagpur. DMIC, a very massive project covering 2700 kilometers in six states, is the USD 100 billion project. The government has proposed to establish a revolving fund of USD 9 billion with matching contribution from India and Japan. The DMIC covers a 4000 megawatt (MW) power plant, six airports and three seaports with connectivity. Replying to another question, the Minister said that the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has agreed to help the government in chalking out plans for the development of Bangalore-Chennai Industrial Corridor though not a rail-based one. The six states covered under DMIC are Delhi, Western Uttar Pradesh, Southern Haryana, Eastern Rajasthan, Eastern Gujarat and Western Maharashtra.
