Shreyas Shipping, the only container feeder owning and operating company in India which started its services in 1993, improved its services on the western coast by including one more feeder vessel to Kochi, OEL Kochi. The vessel made its maiden call at International Container Trans-shipment Terminal (ICTT) at Vallarpadam on Tuesday. It has the proposed route of ICTT-Tuticorin-Mundra-Hazira-ICTT. It will be on weekly service. Mr.S.Ramakrishnan, Chairman and Managing Director, Shreyas Shipping, said that Vallarpadam’s potentials could be well exploited to develop domestic trade and business in the region. He also said that the company aims at connecting all the Indian ports with ICTT for trans-shipment. Mr.Paul Antony, Chairman, Cochin Port Trust, felt that relaxation in the cabotage laws would benefit Vallarpadam terminal. Talking to the media, Mr. S.Ramakrishnan said that the company will shortly increase its fleet strength from five to seven very soon for which the company has already set aside in investment outlay of INR 100 crore.
