Cochin Shipyard to build a Buoy Tender Vessel

Cochin Shipyard Limited has focused on high-end offshore vessels like seismic vessels, drill vessels and diving vessels. It has now signed a contract with the Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships (DGLL) to construct a buoy tender vessel. It is to be equipped with 35T Tool Crane and a helicopter desk with D value of 16 metres; it will be powered by two 2,000 KW diesel engines plus two controlled pitch propellers. Its sophistication includes Sonar that can locate wrecks to a depth of 40 metres. It has space enough to accommodate 32 people. It is a multi-purpose vessel that can place and recover buoys from deeper depths for examination and it can also be put in service in distress management in areas with touch currents. The necessary documents were signed by Mr.A.M.Surej, Director General, representing DGLL and Mr.P. Vinayakumar, Director (Technical), on behalf of Cochin Shipyard Limited.
