Railways likely to increase the haulage charges for box train operators

The Railway Ministry is said to be contemplating a hike in the haulage charges for the container train operators. Earlier, in March when it raised the charges for all the commodities, it spared the box train operators. The Ministry had also assisted the operators by introducing some moderation in the norms so that the operators could move pig iron and sponge iron in the market, the norms being effected from July 1. Earlier, the Ministry had banned the movement of the heavy commodities and the moderation brought some relief to the operators. It may be pointed out here that the haulage charge is the lion’s share of the operational cost.  Now, to continue the image, once the increase in the haulage charge is implemented, the lion’s share will become still bigger and larger.
