Krishnapatnam Port‘s expansion in three phases

An all weather port with the round the clock operations all through the year, as the port claims, Krishnapatnam Port has planned to expand in three phases and  the second phase of the development is said to be in progress with a projected expenditure of INR 4000 crore. Under Phase II, four dedicated baths for Coal, two for General Cargo and one for Containers and Mechanized handling system have to be constructed. It will also have 13 railway sidings in the port. On completion of the Phase II, the port will have 10 dedicated coal berths; each coal berth will have the facility of two ship unloaders with the capacity of 2000 Tips per Hour, a Conveyor system and 13  cargo-wise dedicated railway sidings in the port with ample loops for speedy evacuation of cargo. It will also have provision for future dedicated pipelines for liquid cargo such as Chemicals. Once all the phases have been completed, it is said, it will be one of the biggest ports in the world and in India it will be a largest port.
