Vessel MV Cohiba with 161,980 MTs of US coal for JSW Steels Limited berthed at 5.30 hrs on August 6, 2012. It discharged with conventional unloading system 1.22 lakh tonnes of coal in just 24 hours. It only used advanced Mobile Harbour Cranes. The Krishnapatnam Port Terminal, the container business arm of the port, had already added four gantry cranes of Keppel Fels, new bagging machines, new hopper and conveyor systems and new sidings for handling bulk cargo. The Krishnapatnam Port is developed and operated by the Navayuga group (USD 5 billion). The port has prepared itself to handle new scheduled calls from this month.
