
Inaugurating a three-day international seminar on “New Trends in Logistics” in Kochi, Mr.K.Babu, Excise and Ports Minister said that Kerala, following Gujarat, should try to develop a port-based logistics hub. Such hubs will help the state to develop. He also said that the government is for developing waterways for the movements of goods. He added: “Those who come with such projects will be given assistance from the government”. Referring to the construction of Vizhinjam terminal, he observed that the work would commence as soon as the environmental clearance is received from the Union Government. The Government is also for giving assistance to those who have plans to invest in light vessels that can function in shallow waters. Mr.K.V.Ramachandran, Vice-Chairman, Kerala Productivity Council, was the President for the function. The other dignitaries who spoke were Mr.Ludy Louis ,MLA; Mr.K.A.Muraleedharan, Akashwani Director; Mr.K.P.Haridas, Chairman of Headload Workers Welfare Board Advocate; Mr.N.A.Mohammed Kutty, Managing Director,Falcon Infrastructure Private Limited and Mr.S.Jayathilakan.
