Concern visible to develop logistics in the first half of 2012

The article titled “India Logistics Market View” in recent CBRE’s report points out that there was an increase in the market for logistics and warehousing spaces. The market was not just limited to the traditional capital regions like Mumbai and Bangalore; it advanced into Tier-II cities as well. Availability of large stretches of land, attractive and affordable low cost of the land, promising connectivity to many markets appear to be the chief reasons that have favoured such Tier-II and Tier-III cities for having logistics parks and warehouses. The Chairman and the Managing Director of CBRE, South Asia Private Limited, Mr. Anshuman Magazine said: “The rising level of activity in logistics and warehousing space across metros as well as tier II cities is testimony to the growing confidence of domestic and international retailers in India”.   The Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) Companies also are on expansion schedules. Companies prefer to have logistics spaces and warehouses built to suit their purposes. Many transactions of about 10,000 to 15,000 square feet of warehousing appear to have been reported in the first half of 2012.
