8 Tamil persons,( 2 men, 2 women, 3 boys and 1 girl) were arrested by Navy personnel of SLNS Thammanna of the North-Central Naval Command. It is said they were trying to undertake an illegal journey by a fishing boat to reach India and then proceed to Australia. The arrest took place on 23rd July, 2012. Preliminary investigations found out that one person possessed 3 forged passports. All of them were handed over by the Navy to Thalaimannar police.
