Promising business for NMPT

Kannur-based traders and industrialists have shown interest in utilizing the New Mangalore Port for their export and import enterprises. Last week, a delegation from Kannur-based North Malabar Chamber of Commerce visited the port for a discussion with the port authorities. It was found that the container freight station of the Central Warehousing Corporation at Kannur could be used to export container cargo.  The delegation also discussed issues such as arrival of vessels and handling charges. The port authorities will discuss these issues with the agents in Mangalore. Mr. Vinod Narayan, President of the Chamber, had told them that he would impress upon the Kannur importers and exporters for  a good use of NMPT for their cargo . All very important people participated in the very useful interactive meeting and some of them are Mr. T.S.N. Murthy, the deputy chairman of NMPT, officials of the Customs department, shipping agents and  mainline and feeder lines operators and , significantly, the representatives from the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and  Industry.
