Pharmaceutical companies in the State get a great operational advantage now that the much-awaited notification declaring Mormugao Port Trust as a notified port has been issued. The immediate past president of the Goa Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (GPMA), Mr. Arun Naik, said: “It is a matter of pride for Goa’s pharmaceutical industry that the Mormugao Port Trust now appears in the Drugs and Cosmetics Act list.” He also said that all the raw materials required for pharmaceutical industry could be imported from the Mormugao Port, instead of importing from either Nhava Sheva Port in Mumbai or from other ports. The notification was made possible, he said, because of the continuous efforts of people like MPT Chairman Mara Pandiyan, Food and Drug Administration Director Salim Veljee, Commissioner of Customs and Central Excise V.P.C.Rao along with the executive members of GPMA.
