Korean contract for Allcargo to move heavy-lift transformers

Allcargo Logistics had bagged a contract from Hyundai Heavy Industries, Korea, for the movement of 7 heavy-lift transformers and accessories from Mumbai Port to Bina substation (power grid) in Madhya Pradesh. These transformers are for a 765 KVA Bina Power Station in Madhya Pradesh.

Allcargo Logistics had been assigned to handle Customs clearances, port handling and inland transportation of all the 7 transformers and their accessories.

The transformers, each weighing 177T and having dimensions 7.5 x 5.7 x 4.8, were loaded on 12 hydraulic axles having a convoy length of 28.5 metres. The total freight ton including the accessories were 3872 FRT.

In view of the complexities involved Allcargo conducted a complete route survey and outlined all the risks involved and completed a complete risk analysis statement and ensured all risks were mitigated to the minimum level (ALARP- as low as reasonably possible).

The transformers were shipped by the supplier in 2 lots and the first lot was successfully delivered within 30 days of discharge at the port and the 2nd consignment is currently on the way and planned to be delivered within 25 days of the discharge.

Further, looking at the performance and engineering expertise of Allcargo, Hyundai Heavy Industries requested Allcargo for unloading at site from trailer to foundation. Allcargo immediately dispatched a team of unloading specialists who have wide and diversified experience of unloading transformers and subsequently operations were carried out in a safe and complied manner.
