With approximately 110 meters in length and a capacity to carry a light helicopter, the vessel is designed to achieve a maximum speed of 20 knots. The vessel will be used to give training to the Naval Cadets in activities like disaster relief, search and rescue operations etc.
Responding to the award of the prestigious order, Mr. Dhanajay Datar, the Whole time Director and the Chief Financial Officer of the ABG Group, said: “This repeat order reinforces the Ministry of Defence’s confidence in us. We are honoured that the Government has recognized our shipbuilding skills and given us the chance to service the country once again”.
ABG Shipyard builds a wide range of commercial vessels such as bulk carriers, container ships, floating crane, split barges, anchor handling tugs, offshore supply vessels, diving support vessels and dynamic positioning ships.
In 2011, ABG Shipyard was awarded a deal worth Rs. 9.7 billion to build two cadet training ships for the Indian Navy.
