The valedictory function of Vigilance Awareness Week-2012 was celebrated in V. O. Chidambaranar Port Trust on Nov. 3 as per the directives of the Central Vigilance Commission.
Vigilance Awareness Week was celebrated in all the Central Government departments and PSUs to create an awareness about vigilance activities to ensure transparency in the functioning and accountability as public servants as per the directives of the Central Vigilance Commission, New Delhi.
Slogan, elocution and essay writing competitions were conducted for the employees, school children and college students.
Banners and posters about corruption were displayed in prominent places of the port highlighting the evils of corruption and exhorting all the employees to have probity in public life.
Mr. T. S. Ashok Kumar, Deputy Chief Vigilance Officer, welcomed the gathering. In his presidential address, Mr. S. Natarajan, Chairman i/c, highlighted the ethics of public life.
Chief Guest S. Kamal Abdul Nazar urged the employees of the port to be the whistle blowers for eradicating corruption. He also distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions.
Ms. Sivagamasundari proposed to vote of thanks.
