Kolkata Dock System and Haldia Dock System are the two systems of the Kolkata Port Trust. While ABG has decided to withdraw from Haldia , it says it has no plans to withdraw from Netaji Subhas Dock (NSD) of Kolkata Dock System. They are operating two container berths 4 and 8 of NSD since 2005. A spokesperson for ABG Group said: “Our Haldia chapter is closed but we are very active at NSD under the Kolkata Dock System”. In fact, even after the expiry of the present contract in November 2014, he said, “we will continue to operate”. In fact , he said : “ Our experience at NSD is extremely satisfactory and we account for nearly 75% of the throughput”. Meanwhile, the ABG has kept the Shipping Ministry informed of the developments including its decision to withdraw from the Haldia dock.
