Mr. Biplav Kumar, Deputy Chairman, Mormugao Port Trust (MPT), announced a very happy news. Depending on the availability of the containers, a special train will be run between Desur and Mormugao port thrice a month. This announcement is the consequence of a meaningful interaction between the senior officials of MPT and the Belgaum Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCI). BCCI impressed upon the officials of MPT the need for a special separate train exclusively for containers. Mutual benefit has ever been an easy and a definite promoter of business environment. Mr. Satish Tendolkar, Chairman, BCCI, was also present for the interaction. BCCI came out with very good suggestions to improve the relationship between the industry and the port. The port must organize a trade meet to bring home the importance of export and the facilities available for it at the port; it must open a single window counter for export and for transport of goods from Belgaum region to Goa; this exclusiveness helps trade. Both BCCI and MPT officials decided to have another meeting with the exporters next month.
