Naval Commanders Conference 2012 commenced in New Delhi

The Naval Conference is held twice a year, one in May and another in October to discuss the plans of Indian Navy as well as the operational issues. The Naval Commanders Conference 2012 started on October 16 in New Delhi. Admiral DK Joshi, Chief of the Naval Staff addressed the senior naval commanders; he stressed on the strategic necessities in relation to the current maritime environment.  He drew attention to the need of continued co-ordination among the stakeholders such as Indian Coast Guard, State Marine Police, Customs and Fisheries dept and other agencies in their efforts to ensure security of the maritime environment. He admitted the contributions by the Navies of different countries including that of Indian Navy in fighting piracy considerably successfully. He also pointed out the necessity of training human resources to deal with new modern equipment. In the remaining days, the Conference will focus on issues like logistics chain, creation of new infrastructure, expanding as well as modernizing repair facilities and up gradation of hospitals etc.
