The Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has started a weekly regular service from Krishnapatnam Port Container Terminal (KPCT). The company has a plan to commence the service from October 19. The service will call every Monday at the terminal. According to an official release, the service rotation will be Colombo, Krishnapatnam, Chennai , Colombo with a world wide coverage of ports through MSC’s large network of services for both dry and reefer cargo. The export and import needs of the sectors will be attended to at Krishnapatnam port which includes Europe, North and South America, East and South Africa, North and West Africa, Red Sea and Gulf, Far East and China, Australia and New Zealand. Colombo, however, will continue as the main transshipment hub. MSC will serve also via Singapore to Far East China and the US in particular for reefers. The release also pointed out that empties are available at Krishnapatnam for both dry and reefers.
