Kolkata Port Trust said that it had brought to the notice of the authorities that some barges not permitted for the task had violated norms and offloaded cargo illegally at Dhamra Port in Odisha. The barges involved had not been given permission to operate as ‘Category IV ‘barges. Two such barges loaded cargo from a vessel and offloaded it at the Odisha port. The prolonged labour unrest at Kolkata Port Trust adversely impacts the trade at the port. Business is at the stake which means huge money is being involved; traders tend to seek ways and means of achieving their end: profitable business transaction. To solve the deadlock situation at KoPT, all the stakeholders await the court intervention.
