For the five year period of 2012 -2017, Container Corporation of India has plans to spend about INR 6000 crore. For this year, the company proposes to spend about INR 1652 crore on warehouse capacity, warehouse operations being one of its core businesses. Concor wants to reduce the unproductive movements of the empty containers and therefore it is on the look out for the customers who could offer cargoes for both ways. In business, any source of revenue must be attended to. Private Freight Terminals also will add to the revenue in their own ways since they integrate the Rail transport with the supply chair for a very efficient and cost-effective logistic solution for the end-users. As of now, the Railways have permitted two Private Freight Terminals. With them, it is possible to handle non-containerized commodities. The objective of permitting operations of freight terminals through private participation is focusing to divert the traffic by road, as much as possible, to rail transport.
