Seven injured in a blaze on an old ship being broken

In the breaking yard at Dockyard, Mumbai, a major fire broke out on an old ship on Friday, injuring seven persons. The ship was docked in the breaking yard. Private ship-breakers had undertaken to break the Japanese ship that used to carry oil and they were using the gas-cutters. The police had booked the contractors under sections of IPL for negligence and for failing to take safety measures while the ship was being broken.

Ship breaking or ship demolition is a kind of ship disposal when the ship has become a clear liability beyond repair. And for the personal injury which is different from damage to the property, the affected are eligible for compensation. It is said the nature and the extent of compensation differs from country to country.

A good conscience sleeps in thunder; fair compensation ensures performance.
