Bhaskarachar, new CMD of Ennore Port

Mr. M. A. Bhaskarachar assumed charge as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Ennore Port Limited on Dec. 21.

Before joining Ennore Port Ltd, he was working as Deputy Chairman, Kandla Port Trust (KPT), for more than four years since October, 2008. Prior to his stint at Kandla Port, which had recorded a phenomenal growth during his tenure, Mr. Bhaskarachar also served as Deputy Chairman in Kolkata Port Trust and New Mangalore Port Trust for more than 4 years and 2 years respectively.

Mr. Bhaskarachar was born in 1957 and did B.Com, MBA and FCMA.  He had visited international ports in Netherlands, Belgium, France, UK, Singapore and Germany during his various roles.

Interestingly, in a statement, KPT management praised Mr. Bhaskarachar’s contributions towards the planning and development of infrastructure/ PPP projects at Kandla Port. Ennore Port will benefit from his vast and rich experience in the port sector, the release emphasized.

Mr. Bhaskarachar has experience in finance, administration, project evaluation and management, streamlining procedures, preparation of Memorandum of Understanding and agreements, port management, vigilance administration, human resource development, drafting of policies, implementation of e-Governance and innovative technologies to improve efficiency.

Speaking to reporters after taking over the hot seat of the country’s only Corporate Major Port, Mr. Bhaskarachar said that he will strive hard to materialize the port’s ambitious projects.

While admitting that the connectivity issue (with the port to highways and railway lines) seems to be his main task, he announced that EPL will come out with a revised project proposal for container terminal at the port.

“Our Board has discussed the importance of having a container terminal in detail and we would like to put it on a fast track mode so that the port would get the facility in the shortest possible time,” the new EPL CMD said.
