Show manifests maritime might

The four-day international exhibition on maritime, organized jointly by the Ministry of Shipping and apex trade body FICCI as part of the India Maritime-2012, drew good response from the industry as well as the general public of Panaji.

Union Shipping Minister G. K.Vasan and Union Shipping Secretary P. K. Sinha jointly inaugurated the mega event in the presence of top officials from the Government of Goa.

After the inauguration, the Minister along with Shipping Ministry officials visited different stalls and enquired about the products that were on display.

Besides all major ports in the country, companies which are producing different maritime-allied equipment have also displayed their items at the international expo.

Speaking to Sagar Sandesh at the exhibition ground, Mr Onakugotor Dennis, a representative of Global Maritime Academy, Nigeria, said: “Such exhibitions help people like us understand India’s maritime capabilities under one roof.”

India Maritime-2012 is a marine industry and shipping sector related trade show. The show presented a grand opportunity for different maritime equipment manufacturers to test and market their products during the show. Besides, the exhibition also helped the country’s major ports to showcase their handling capacities to the equipment manufacturing companies.

The main attraction of the exhibition was the Goa Pavilion, set up by the Government of Goa, in the capacity of host state. The Goa Pavilion drew steady stream of visitors all throughout the four days.
