Resumption of operation at Haldia delayed further

The unfortunate alleged abduction at gun point of HBT’s workers has rendered resumption of operations impossible ;  moreover, political shadows also seem to darken the situation at Haldia complex. Mr. Gurpreet Malhi, the CEO of HBT has given a statement saying they had meant to resume operations at the Haldia earliest without sacrificing the safety of their employees. He said: “Yesterday events had shocked all at HBT. We are deeply concerned for the safety and the well-being of all our employees and hence are evaluating and deliberating on the available options “. The police have already started investigating the alleged incident.  Mr. Manish Jain, chairman of Kolkata Port Trust, said: “The authority concerned should enquire into the matter. We want restoration of normalcy at the port immediately”.  The Secretary General of the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industy of India (Assocham) Mr.D.S Rawat sought the intervention of the West Bengal Government. A senior Congress leader Mr. Manas Ranjan Bhunia has gone one step further and said: “I will submit a report to Minister of Shipping Mr.G.K.Vasan and Prime Minister. I have already sent a note to the Prime Minister seeking his intervention”. One more dimension is added to the problem by the Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly and Polit Bureau member of CPI (M) , Mr.Surya Kanta Mishra who said that some ruling party  MP was involved in the stalemate.
