Karnataka to press for port projects

Ports Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary has said he is planning to lead a delegation to New Delhi to build pressure on the Centre to approve the proposed port projects in Karnataka.
Mr. Poojary added that works on construction of the first phase of a permanent sea wall that had been taken up to prevent sea erosion, would be taken up in Ullal, Dakshina Kannada district.
The INR 911-crore project involving the development of the 200 km State coastline comprises 84.5% funding from Asian Development Bank and 15.5% from the State Government. Works in Ullal would be taken up at a cost of INR 223.32 crores, for which a sum of INR 28 crores has already been released, he said.
